Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats are pleased, but also sad, to announce that radio broadcaster Matt Andrews has taken a job with Radio Ohio and The Ohio State University IMG Sports Network. He is a Bloomingburg, Ohio native and graduate of The Ohio State University (2002) where he called numerous Buckeye athletic events for OSU student radio, including the Buckeyes' National Championship in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. Andrews will be the voice of Ohio State Baseball, Ohio State Women's Basketball, Football duties and more; as well as the weekday morning Sports Center updater for 97.1 The Fan.

Andrews has been with the Louisville Bats organization since the 2003 season, when he joined now Reds broadcaster Jim Kelch in the broadcast booth. After spending seven seasons alongside Kelch, Andrews took over the play-by-play duties in 2010. In his time with the Bats, Andrews was also the voice of University of Louisville Women's Basketball for six seasons.

"This is an exciting, once in a lifetime opportunity for me - to return home, to my alma mater, and continue my broadcasting career," Andrews said. "I'm forever grateful for the 14 amazing years in Louisville working for the Bats, learning under Jim Kelch, and the opportunity to work for this terrific organization. Too, the last six years working with Coach Jeff Walz and University of Louisville Women's Basketball have been some of the best moments of my life. I want to thank all of our fans for your support and loyalty to our broadcasts. I will truly miss Louisville." Andrews' last game will be June 29.

Andrews joins former Louisville broadcasters Jim Kelch and Joe Buck as those who spent time with the Bats organization and went on to further their broadcast career. "We are very excited for Matt and this opportunity that he has been given to go back home and call Buckeyes' athletics," said Bats Senior Vice President Greg Galiette. "He has been a huge part of this organization for the past 14 years and we couldn't be happier for him. He was one of the best in Minor League Baseball over the past seven years and we were lucky to have him as the voice of the Bats for so long."

In 2013, Nick Curran joined Andrews on the air for home games and select road games. Curran will take over as the voice of the Bats going forward. He has been the voice of Bellarmine University Men's Basketball since the 2009-2010 season along with his Bats duties.

"Working with and learning from Matt has been the thrill of a lifetime," Curran exclaimed. "He's one of the best broadcasters out there and has been an even better friend and mentor to me. His alma mater is lucky to have him. He leaves enormous shoes to fill and it will be my honor to try to fill them. Matt, and Jim Kelch before him, have set a high standard for broadcasters with this organization and I hope to make them proud."
