Today's Game
This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons face the Rochester Red Wings in the final game of a two-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.).The Herd has lost three straight after their season-best five game winning streak, May 31-June 4. The Bisons will also face the Knights and Bulls in this eight-game homestand.
Last Game (ROC 3, BUF 1)
Rochester defeated the Bisons 3-1 as C John Ryan Murphy had a pair of RBI hits and SS Wilfredo Tovar snapped a 1-1 tie with sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. LHP Wade LeBlanc delivered his sixth consecutive quality start and struck out nine in seven innings, but took the defeat.
vs. Rochester (3-8)
Rochester has won eight of their last 10 games against the Bisons. With 19 games on the schedule, the Red Wings need just a couple more wins to clinch the season series over the Herd. The teams will meet next on Monday, July 4 at Frontier Field.
Roberto Hernandez
RHP Roberto Hernandez makes his ninth start of the season today. The veteran allowed three runs in a season-best 6.1 innings in a no-decision last Friday. Hernandez is 2-1 with a 3.81 ERA in five starts at Coca-Cola Field. He threw four shutout innings in his 2016 debut, April 27 against the Red Wings in downtown Buffalo.
David Adams
INF David Adams has a hit in 17 of his last 20 games with an at-bat. Since April 24, the infielder has averaged .444 (21-54) with six doubles and 12 walks. On the season, Adams has walked 18 times to only 19 strikeouts. He has a .410 on-base pct. so far this season.
Dalton Pompey
Bisons OF Dalton Pompey brings a 10-game hit streak into today's game, the 2nd-longest active streak in the International League. Since May 24, the outfielder has averaged .405 (17-42) with three doubles, six RBI, eight walks and five runs scored. Pompey has also hit in 20 of his last 23 games overall and leads the Bisons with seven stolen bases.
Bo Schultz
Since being optioned to the Bisons on May 22, RHP Bo Schultz has allowed just one run in six outings (6.2 IP). The righty has not issued a walk over the stretch, and has six strikeouts to six hits allowed.
Bisons Bits
Ten of the 14 teams in the International League currently have winning records, including all six clubs in the IL North division...RHP Ben Rowen has not allowed a run in his last 10 appearances. The reliever has allowed five hits while striking out nine in his last 12.0 innings.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays' (32-29) picked up the 7-2 victory over Detroit yesterday. 1B Justin Smoak and 3B Josh Donaldson each homered while former Bisons CF Kevin Pillar went 2-3 with a walk and two RBI. The Blue Jays are back in the Rogers Centre tonight with a 7:07 p.m. first pitch against the Orioles. RHP Marcus Stroman (5-2) gets the start.
