Indianapolis Indians News Release

It is time once again for Indianapolis Colts standout Robert Mathis and Indiana Pacers All-Star Paul George to trade in their cleats and basketball shoes for bats and a ball they aren't as accustomed to competing with as they host the Indiana Children's Wish Fund eighth annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge.

Mathis and George will each lead a team consisting of local media personalities, players from both the Colts and Pacers, mascots, and other local sports stars.

The event leads off with a Homerun Derby at 6 p.m., followed by a seven-inning game at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased through Celebrity Softball page of IndyIndians.com or from the Victory Field Box Office, (317) 269-3545. Proceeds help grant wishes, serve families and give hope.

Named for Caroline Symmes, an Indiana Children's Wish Fund child who was a large part of the first softball challenge in 2009, the event continues to keep her memory and spirit alive. All proceeds from the game will benefit the Indiana Children's Wish Fund, which allows children ages 3-18 with a terminal illness the chance to make their wish a reality. Celebrating 31 years of wish granting, wishes in the past have included trips to Disney World and meet-and-greets with their favorite celebrities.
