Durham Bulls News Release

DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls used a pair of home runs to back solid pitching as they recorded a 3-2 win in front of 10,104 fans Thursday night at the DBAP.

The Bulls (28-34) - who wore specially designed jerseys by Durham-based clothing company RUNAWAY for DURM Night - took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning when Jake Goebbert blasted a two-out, two-run home run over the right field wall to put the home side in front 3-2. The bullpen did the rest over the final two innings, with Steve Geltz notching his second save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.

Durham struck first, as the rehabbing Logan Forsythe blasted a solo home run over the Blue Monster in the third inning. In the fourth the Tides (21-40) came back, as Audry Perez knocked a two-run single to left field that scored Dariel Alvarez and Trey Mancini.

Eddie Gamboa (2-1) earned the win for Durham, after tossing two scoreless innings of relief. Justin Marks turned in a strong start, surrendering two runs across six innings while taking a no-decision. Joe Gunkel (2-4) was the tough-luck loser for Norfolk, turning in a complete game while allowing three runs on five hits.

Durham embarks on a nine-game road trip beginning Friday in Lehigh Valley. LHP Blake Snell (3-4, 3.14) gets the ball for Durham opposite RHP Jake Thompson (4-5, 3.82) for the IronPigs. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park.
