Calgary, AB - Garnet Kazuik, Director of Scouting for the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club today announced Forward Collin Shirley has been selected 17th overall by the club in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. The 22nd annual WHL Bantam Draft began at 8:30 am today in Calgary and is for players born in 1996 and playing in the four Western Provinces and selected regions of the United States.

"Shirley fits in our Hockey Club's mold of what we look for in a player. He has the skill to play both left wing and center when needed and will be a great benefit to the Club down the road," commented Kazuik. "He is still developing his skills and has already shown he can be very effective on the ice. We are excited to welcome Collin to the Kootenay ICE organization."

Shirley becomes the 16th first round draft pick in the history of the ICE franchise.
