Cougars Select Defenceman Sam Ruopp in Fourth Round at 2011 WHL Bantam Draft

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Prince George Cougars are proud to announce the selection of defenceman Sam Ruopp in the fourth round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.

Ruopp, a 5'10", 150 pounder from Zehner, Saskatchewan, was taken 76th overall by the Cougars. Ruopp played in 22 regular season games for the Balgonie Bantam AA Prairie Storm, recording one goal and 17 assists for 18 points. Ruopp also had 32 penalty minutes.

"Sam is another strong blue line prospect for the Cougars," said Cougars Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel Wade Klippenstein. "He moves the puck well and is very reliable in his own end."
