Ice Dogs Hold off Aces, 4-3

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Ice Dogs answered every goal put in by Anchorage to earn a 4-3 win Wednesday night at Long Beach Arena.

Long Beach (2-2-0) took an early 1-0 lead when Tomas Hradecky slipped the puck past Aces goaltender Christian Soucy (1-6) at the 5:39 mark in the first period.

Anchorage (1-7-0) responded 5:03 into the second period when Carl Drankensjo pounded in a loose rebound to beat Long Beach goaltender Mike Buzak (2-0). The Ice Dogs regained the lead when Jeff Ewasko beat Soucy glove-side 8:17 into the second.

The Aces tied the game at 2-2 with Yvan Corbin's goal 1:27 into the third. Long Beach took a short-lived 3-2 advantage at 13:21 off of Chris Kenady's shot and Hradecky's assist, his third point of the game. Anchorage answered at 14:34 when Kimbi Daniels scored off Corbin's pass to nod the contest at 3-3. Tomas Kapusta scored the game-winning goal 16:33 into the third, his first goal and third point on the year.
