Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBORO GENERALS
The Generals fell in overtime to the Richmond Renegades 3-2 last Saturday night at home, earning a point in the standings. Greensboro grabbed an early 1-0 lead with David Whitworth scoring the team's first shorthanded goal of the season. However, the Renegades evened the score late in the first period, then took the lead in the second period. The Generals' Vlad Serov scored his first goal of the year in the final minute of the second period to knot the score at 2-2. The game remained tied until overtime, when Richmond was granted a power play and capitalized for the victory. Daniel Berthiaume saved 25 of 28 shots in net.
PEE DEE PRIDE
The Pride defeated the Florida Everblades 4-3 in a shootout last Saturday on the road. Pee Dee drew first blood in the first period on a Mike Glumac score, then Greg Schmidt upped the lead to 2-0 early in the second period. After Florida got on the board to cut Pee Dee's lead to one, Matt Reid got the Pride back on the board less than a minute later for a 3-1 advantage. The Everblades earned a point, however, by charging back to tie the game, with Brent McDonald scoring in the final minute to force the shootout. The shootout lasted a gut-wrenching ten rounds, with Pee Dee gaining the victory on Daniel Carriere's score.
