
Bakersfield Hockey History Honored Saturday

Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League have two games this weekend, including a home game against the San Diego Gulls on Saturday night in a 7:00pm start at Centennial Garden. Everyone in attendance will receive a free "Bakersfield's Best" poster, sponsored by KERN 1410 and Rio Bravo Country Club. Friday's game is slated for a 7:30pm start on the road against the Fresno Falcons.
The large-scale, full-color posters pay tribute to 12 players, past and present, which have made a significant impact on professional hockey in Bakersfield. The poster honors players Kevin Barrett, Jamie Cooke, Dan Currie, Steve Dowhy, Quinn Fair, Brad Guzda, Scott Hay, Brian McCarthy, Glen Mears, Paul Rosebush, Briane Thompson and Paul Willett. During the first intermission, the Condors will honor the players on the poster at center ice with a special presentation.
Saturday night is also the Free Cover with a Cover blanket collection, sponsored by KERN 1410 and David Miller Welding. Anyone who brings a new or slightly used blanket will receive a free terrace ticket to the game. The blankets will be collected by Bethany Services and distributed throughout Kern County to needy families. Fans can also bring blankets for donation to the New Life Center on the corner of Stine Rd. and White Ln. and the Condors Closet retail outlet, across the street from Centennial Garden.
Following the game, the first Meet the Team party for season ticket holders will be held in the Club Room. All season tickets holders and mini-plan holders will be admitted to the party and have the opportunity to meet and greet members of the 2002-03 squad.
Single-game tickets are available through the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825), or by visiting the Condors office at Centennial Garden.
Condor Droppings. . . Condors goaltender Kevin St. Pierre was honorable mention for the WCHL Goaltender of the Week. St. Pierre was 1-0, allowing one goal and stopping 35 shots in a 7-1 victory in San Diego on Sunday... The Condors Coach's Show with Head Coach Paul Kelly takes place from 6:00-7:00pm at the Holiday Inn Select and airs live on KGEO AM 1230 every Thursday night. Tonight's guests are Jeff Goldie and Fredrik Jensen. This week will be a special Halloween Show. There will be candy and prizes for the best costumes. Call-ins are welcome at 631-1230, there are prizes to be given away, and the Holiday Inn Select has drink specials all night... Paul Willett Bobbleheads are in! Everyone who attended the game on Saturday, October 19th and received their yellow voucher, may redeem it for their bobblehead at the team's official retail outlet, the Condors Closet. The Condors Closet is located on Truxtun Avenue, directly across the street from Centennial Garden, and is open from 11:00am-6:00pm Monday through Friday and opens at 11:00am on Saturdays, and is open until game time for home games.
