San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls are holding its fifth annual "Jerseys off Their Backs" night this Friday when they host the Idaho Steelheads.

Gulls fans will have the opportunity to bid on authentic, game-worn, special Gulls jerseys that will only be donned for this one evening. Bidding will take place at the North Entrance of the San Diego Sports Arena beginning at 6 p.m. and closing at the start of the third period. Every Gulls player's jersey will be up for auction.

All proceeds will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation of San Diego County. Since the inception of the event, four seasons ago, the Gulls have raised approximately $38,000 for San Diego area charities. The goal for the 2002-2003-jersey auction is to raise enough funds to grant three San Diego area children their very special wishes.

""Make-A-Wish Foundation is proud to have such a supportive community partner as the San Diego Gulls," stated Ilene Hubbs, Make-A-Wish president and CEO."A wish brings hope, strength and joy to a seriously ill child during a very difficult time in their young lives. The generosity of the Gulls will make wishes come true for some very special children and their families."

The Gulls leave right after Friday night's game and head to Bakersfield, where they'll take on the Condors Saturday at 7 p.m. San Diego then has a week off before hosting Idaho again Saturday Nov. 9. All games can be heard live on 1130AM-KSDO and at www.ksdo.com with Chris Ello calling the play-by-play. The Gulls' Internet radio show broadcasts live every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on wsradio.com with Tera Black and Jeremy Zager hosting.
