Of the 18 players on the opening day roster, only one returns from last season, defenseman Trevor Read. The opening day roster reads as follows:

Goaltenders (2): Chris Madden; Olivier Michaud

Defensemen (6): Trevor Read; Mike Vellinga; Steeve Villeneuve; David Walker; Dan Watson; Gary Zinck

Forwards (10): Joe Cardarelli; Evan Cheverie; Paul Dunphy; Chris Kenady; Christian Larrivee; Robin Leblanc; Nathan Martz; Marco Rosa; Paul Spadafora; Clark Udle

The Ice Dogs, who swept the San Diego Gulls in two preseason contests, will get their first real test Friday night in the first game of the regular season. The Ice Dogs open this season with 8 former NHL draft picks, as opposed to just 2 last season.
