
NASCAR's Ward Burton to attend November 13 Pride game

FLORENCE, SC â The Pee Dee Pride announced today that NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver Ward Burton will attend the team's home game on NASCAR Night, Saturday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. against the Columbia Inferno.
In 1990, Burton started racing on the NASCAR Busch Series. In 111 career starts in the series, Burton finished first four times, and had an additional 27 top-10 finishes. He moved to the Winston Cup Series in 1994. Near the end of 1995 season, he joined the Bill Davis Racing team, and in his first race with the team, finished fourth in the Pepsi Southern 500 at Darlington. While with BDR, Burton crossed the finish line first five times, including a first-place finish in NASCAR's most famous race, the 2002 Daytona 500.
Burton will be town for the final running of the Mountain Dew Southern 500 on Sunday, November 14. During the first intermission of the Pride game, Burton will personally congratulate Delayed Entry Personnel who will be entering various branches of the United States Military.
During the second intermission of the game, the Pride will hold two of the team's most popular on-ice promotions: the annual Wiener Dog Nationals, as well as a boxcar race featuring the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area.
In addition, prior to the game, the Budweiser Clydesdales will be at the Florence Civic Center. Fans will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Clydesdales from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the back gate area of the Civic Center. For a donation of $1, fans can get their pictures taken with the famous horses. All proceeds will benefit the Pride Youth Hockey Association.
Opening Weekend 2004 is right around the corner! Friday the Pride host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come to the game early to tailgate in the civic center parking lot while listening to the music of local band Paradigm. All fans in attendance will receive a free rally towel courtesy of Wachovia Bank.
On Saturday, the Pride host the Augusta Lynx, also at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a Pride magnetic schedule courtesy of SCE&G. Following the game, the Pride in conjunction with Archadeck of the Pee Dee; BB&T; Griggs-Floyd & Grantham, Inc.; and Micky Finn's present the Blue Dogs in concert.
Group tickets for all Pride home games are now available. In addition to receiving discounted tickets, groups of 15 or more are also eligible for group raffles, and will have their name announced over the PA system and printed in the game-day program.
