
Rivermen Sign Three-Time ECHL All-Star Brian McCullough

Peoria, Ill. (October 21, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that fifth-year left wing and three-time ECHL All-Star Brian McCullough has been signed for the 2004-2005 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
McCullough â a 5-foot-9, 180-pound native of Burr Ridge, Ill. â opened the 2004-2005 season in the 2.Bundesliga (German Second Division) with the ESC Moskitos Essen, notching four points (1g, 3a) in eight games before deciding to return to the United States. Last season, the 27-year-old registered the first 40-goal season of his career with the Florida Everblades, while leading the team in games played (T-72), goals, game-winning goals (11), power play goals (11), assists (47), points (87) and power play points (28). He led the ECHL in game-winning goals, was second in goal scoring and was third in points.
McCullough was also named to the postseason All ECHL Second Team in 2004, and he was named an ECHL All-Star for the third time in the last four seasons (2001, 2003 & 2004), representing the Eastern Conference in the 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game.
In 2002-2003, McCullough led the Reading Royals in goals (39), game-winning goals (5), power play goals (15) and points (95), ranking third in the ECHL in points and tying for fifth in goals. He also played in six games for the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 2001-2002, he netted 18 points (9g, 9a) in 17 games with the Quad City Mallards of the United Hockey League (UHL) in the regular season before posting eight points (2g, 6a) in 10 playoff games.
As a rookie with the Richmond Renegades in 2000-2001, McCullough tied for the team lead in points (58), while ranking second on the team in goals (31), game-winning goals (5) and power play goals (6). After graduating from NCAA Division I Ferris State of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA), he tallied his first professional point, an assist, in six games with the Cleveland Lumberjacks of the International Hockey League (IHL)
McCullough competed for four seasons (1996-2000) for the Ferris State Bulldogs, tallying 124 points (63g, 61a) in 137 career games at Ferris State. He led the team in goals (24), assists (24) and points (48) as a senior (1999-2000) and was named to the All CCHA Second Team in 1999-2000. He led Ferris State in goals (14), assists (14) and points (28) as a junior (1998-1999).
The Peoria Rivermen are a proud affiliate of the NHL's St. Louis Blues and a member of the ECHL â America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. Peoria opens its ninth season in the 28-team league on Friday, October 22, 2004, when they host the archrival Dayton Bombers at Carver Arena.
