Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that prior to their home opener on Saturday night versus Wheeling, they will honor local soldiers from the United States Marine Corps Reserve Unit HMLA-775 DET A helicopter unit, based out of the Johnstown-Cambria County Airport. Game time is at 7:05 p.m.

"This is something we really wanted to do. The Marines have been very supportive of the Chiefs since they came to town a few years ago," said Chiefs General Manager Jim Brazill. "We are very thankful to them for their service to the country. There presence in the War Memorial Arena was certainly missed over the second half of last season.."

The Marines returned to Johnstown in September after spending a little over seven months in Iraq. Prior to going overseas, the Marines took the Iron Dog's Chiefs flag with them. The flag was with several of the Marines as they flew combat missions over Baghdad, Abu Graib, Ramadi, and Fallujah.

"We are all very excited that a professional organization like the Chiefs is honoring us. We are very thankful for the support from the Greater Johnstown area while we were deployed. It will also be fun to return the Chiefs flag back to its home," said Major Bob Jablonski.

Season tickets and flex plans for the 2004-05 season are still available. Opening night sponsored by Your Neighborhood Ford Store is Saturday, October, 23rd when the Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers. Face-off is at 7:05 p.m. For ticket information, call (814) 539-1799.
