Ice Dogs Acquire Defenseman Austin from Idaho

LONG BEACH, Calif. – February 21, 2002 – Long Beach Ice Dogs Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Kevin Kaminski announced today that the Ice Dogs have acquired defenseman Sean Austin from the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for future considerations.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Austin has played in 14 games with the Steelheads this season, recording one assist and four penalty minutes (PIM). Austin began the season in Holland, registering 4-25-29 totals and 75 PIM's in 22 games with the Nijmegen Tigers (Eredivisie-Dutch Super League). Idaho originally signed the 25-year old on Jan. 7, 2003.

The Malden, Massachusetts native split the 2001-02 season between Trenton and Reading of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), recording one assist and eight penalty minutes in 24 games. He also played in 24 games with Deggendorf (German), tallying 3-12-15 totals and 30 PIM.

In four seasons with University of New Hampshire (NCAA), Austin appeared in 106 career games, compiling 7-22-29 totals and 82 PIM.
