Damian Rhodes and the Grrrowl Drop a 4-1 Decision

GREENVILLE, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays spotted the Greenville Grrrowl a 1-0 lead, then rallied with 4-unanswered goals on the way to a 4-1 victory in front of a season-high crowd of 8,321 at the BI-LO Center.

Goaltender DAMIAN RHODES, who was assigned to Greenville this week by the National Hockey League's Atlanta Thrashers, stopped 25 of 29 shots and suffered the loss in his first East Coast Hockey League appearance.

JOHN NAIL gave Greenville a 1-0 lead at 12:52 of the first period. Adam Calder tied the game at 1-1 at 16:02 of the first period, and Jeff Boulanger scored the goal that proved to be the game-winner at 8:09 of the second period as South Carolina opened a 2-1 lead. Dave Seitz made it 3-1 with :34 seconds remaining in period two, and Ryan Brindley capped the scoring at 3:17 of the third period as the Stingrays went on to the 4-1 win. Greenville is now 2-5-1 against South Carolina this season.

These two Southeast Division rivals end their 9-game regular season series in North Charleston next Friday night at 7:30. The Grrrowl travel to Augusta, GA tomorrow night at 7:35 PM, then head to Florence, SC to face Pee Dee on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 PM.
