Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Countdown to Face-off Kalamazoo Wings Vs Missouri River Otters Wings Stadium Kalamazoo, MI Friday, February 21, 2003 7:30 PM

Game Preview The K-Wings will be looking to match their longest winning streak of the season as they host the Missouri River Otters at Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo has won two straight games, including a 4-1 victory last Sunday in Missouri, which started the current win streak, as well as ended their season long 9 game winless streak. The River Otters will be looking to avenge their loss to K-Wings last week, as well as try to end their franchise high 8 game winless streak.

The K-Wings are led Peter Road and Chad Alban. Roed leads the team in scoring with 44 points, while Alban enters the game with 24 consecutive starts between the pipes for Kalamazoo. Chad has a goals against average of 3.43, and a save percentage of .897. Pat O'Leary has also served as a spark for Kalamazoo, as the rookie forward enters the game with a career high 3 game goal-scoring streak.

Missouri winless streak can be linked both injures and call-up to key personnel. The River Otters will be without the serves of Riley Nelson and Joe Ritson, who are both still playing in the AHL with the Rochester Americans. Before their call-up to Rochester, the scoring duo combined for 98 points this season for Missouri. Besides the call-ups, Missouri will be without Ryan Stinson, Jason Gudmundson, Marty Melnychuk, and Henrik Melinder, who are all currently on the River Otters injured reserve list. The River Otters will also miss Claude Amstutz for the next three games. Amstutz was issued a 3 game suspension by the UHL for actions in Missouri's game versus Kalamazoo last Sunday.

While the River Otters will be without seven players, they are still a dangerous team because of Dustin Whitecotton and Brian Regan. Whitecotton leads the River Otters and is among the top UHL goal scorers with 71 points. Regan is one of the top goaltenders in the league. Brian enters the game with a GAA of 2.71, a save percentage of .908, and a record of 24-13-4.
