BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, were defeated by the Norfolk Admirals at home on Monday afternoon 4-3. The loss snaps the Sound Tigers' eight-game-unbeaten-in-regulation streak (6-0-0-2).

Norfolk jumped onto the scoreboard first at 4:50 of the opening frame when Martin St. Pierre sent the puck through traffic and it deflected off Milan Bartovic's skate for the power-play goal, his sixth tally of the year. James Wisniewski also assisted on the play.

Jeremy Colliton tied the score at 1-1 8:43 into the second period on a shorthanded goal, his 11th tally of the year, off assists from Rob Collins and Joel Bouchard. Colliton extended his goal streak to three games, Collins extended his assist and point streaks to four games and Bouchard is now on a two-game assist streak.

The Admirals recaptured the lead at 2-1 with another power-play goal just 15 seconds into a Sound Tigers bench minor for too many men on the ice at 13:40 of the middle frame when Nathan Barrett jammed home his 13th marker of the year off assists from Dustin Byfuglien and Mark Cullen. However, the Sound Tigers answered right back when Masi Marjamaki tied the score at 2-2 just 1:03 later with his third goal of the season, unassisted.

Norfolk once again took the lead 3-2 at 3:26 in the third period when Quintin Laing notched his sixth tally of the year off an assist from Eric Meloche. Then at 7:02, the Admirals doubled the lead to 4-2 when Matt Keith capitalized on a five-on-three advantage for his seventh goal of the year, off assists from Cullen and Barrett.

The Sound Tigers cut the lead to 4-3 when David Masse scored on a wraparound for his sixth goal of the year at 10:35 off assists from Sean Bergenheim and Bouchard. Just prior to Monday's game, Bergenheim returned to the Sound Tigers from the Islanders while Jeff Hamilton was recalled by the big club.

The Sound Tigers were able to pull goaltender Frederic Cloutier in favor of an extra attacker inside the final minute of play but could not come up with the equalizer despite some good chances as time expired.

Cloutier received the loss despite making 22 saves for the Sound Tigers who held the shots on goal advantage 28-26. Corey Crawford stopped 25 shots to pick up the win for Norfolk who was 3 for 8 on the power play and 6 for 6 on the penalty kill. The first star of the game was Barrett, the second was Cullen, and the third was Marjamaki.

The Sound Tigers will visit the Lowell Lock Monsters this Friday at 7:35 p.m. and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. All Sound Tigers games are web-cast live at www.soundtigers.com.
