Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (17-25-0-2) play three games in three nights against two North Division opponents for the second straight weekend. Hamilton will begin the week with back-to-back games versus the Manitoba Moose (25-13-3-2) at the MTS Centre on Friday, January 20 (8:30 p.m.) and Saturday, January 21 (8:30 p.m.). The Bulldogs will then fly home to face the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL Affiliate, the Toronto Marlies (21-17-3-0) on Sunday, January 22 at Copps Coliseum (5:00 p.m.).

- In their 5-3 loss to the Rochester Americans on Saturday, January 14, the Bulldogs had 19 shots on net in the second period, which is the most shots the team has taken in one period this season. Hamilton also tied their season-high for shots on goal in one game with 44.

- LW Jean-Francois Jacques scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season on Saturday, January 14 in the Bulldogs 5-3 loss to the Rochester Americans.

- LW Brad Winchester recorded an assist on Saturday in his first game since being assigned to Hamilton by the Edmonton Oilers on January 10.

- LW Raitis Ivanans played in his 100th game as a Bulldog on Saturday.

- After starting the 2005-06 campaign a perfect 3-0-0-0 against Toronto, Hamilton's record against their QEW rivals sits at 3-3-0-1 this season.

- In their last meeting on December 18 at the Ricoh Coliseum, Bulldogs forward Brad Winchester scored two goals, but it wasn't enough as the Marlies scored twice in both the first and second periods to defeat the ‘Dogs by a score of 4-2.

- Toronto owns the AHL's eighth best power play, operating at 18.7% (54 goals on 289 opportunities).

- Marlies forward John Pohl has recorded 21 goals in 34 games this season and sits in a tie for fourth among AHL goal-scoring leaders.

Thursday, January 12 - Oilers C Jarret Stoll (2a), D Marc-Andre Bergeron (1g), and C Shawn Horcoff (1a) each found the scoresheet as Edmonton dropped a 5-4 decision in overtime to the New York Rangers.

- Stars D Trevor Daley earned an assist as Dallas defeated the Washington Capitals 4-1. Friday, January 13 - Blue Jackets D Ron Hainsey recorded an assist as Columbus dropped a 4-2 decision to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

- Thrashers D Greg De Vries earned an assist in Atlanta's 2-0 victory over the St. Louis Blues. Saturday, January 14 - Canadiens C Mike Ribeiro (1g-1a) and C Chris Higgins (1g) each scored in Montreal's 6-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

- Oilers D Marc-Andre Bergeron posted two goals and added an assist, while C Shawn Horcoff had two assists as Edmonton fell by a score of 5-3 to the Ottawa Senators.

- Blue Jackets LW Jason Chimera scored a goal, while Panthers D Alexei Semenov earned an assist as Columbus defeated Florida 5-4 in overtime.

- Rangers RW Jason Ward earned an assist as New York dropped a 4-3 decision to the Detroit Red Wings.
