Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Edmonton Oilers have assigned forward J.J. Hunter to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Hunter, 25, was activated from the NHL Injured Reserve List and has not played a game this season due to a dislocated right shoulder he suffered during the pre-season. He underwent surgery on the shoulder on October 17th and had been in Edmonton undergoing rehabilitation with the Oilers' medical staff.
The native of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan played in 64 games last season with the Edmonton Road Runners (AHL) and posted 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists) and 51 penalty minutes.
The 6'1" 185-pound center has played a total of three regular season games with the Bulldogs, one in 2001-02 and two in 2002-03, going scoreless while recording two penalty minutes. Hunter also appeared in one playoff game with Hamilton during the 2002-03 season.
In 123 career AHL games, he has collected 52 points (25 goals, 27 assists) and 106 penalty minutes.
The Bulldogs next action will take place on Friday, January 20, when they face the Manitoba Moose in the first of back-to-back games at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Game time is 8:30 p.m. This game can be seen live on Rogers Sportsnet.
Hamilton's next home game will take place on Sunday, January 22, when the Toronto Maple Leafs AHL Affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, visit Copps Coliseum. Game time is 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum Box Office (in-person sales only), any Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.ca, and at select Sports Obsession locations.
