1/10/06 Cleveland 0, Iowa 3 - Dan Ellis turned aside 30-shots in a 3-0 win for the Stars over the Barons on Tuesday night. The teams skated through a scoreless first period in which the Barons failed to convert on two power play chances and the Stars did not score on their lone attempt. The Stars coverted two late goals in the second period and led 2-0 after forty minutes of play. Junior Lessard and Loui Eriksson scored the goals. Lessard completed scoring with an empty net tally late in the third period.
1/13/06 Cleveland 4, Milwaukee 6 - Special teams played a large role in the Admirals 2-1 lead after the first period. Milwaukee struck first as Darren Haydar found the net during a 5-on-3 power play. Scott Nichol extended the Admirals lead to two with a short-handed tally with just under four minutes remaining. A late goal by Josh Prudden cut the lead in half to end the period 2-1. Nichol added his second goal of the night for the second period's only tally, extending the Milwaukee lead to 3-1 after forty minutes. The teams combined for six goals in the third period en route to a 6-4 Milwaukee win. Matt Carkner, Lukas Kaspar, and Shane Joseph each scored goals for the Barons.
1/14/06 Cleveland 2, Iowa 1 - Steve Bernier scored a late goal in regulation lifting the Barons to a 2-1 win over Iowa. The Stars took advantage of three power play chances to earn the only goal of the opening stanza. The game was tied at 1-1 after two periods as Josh Hennessy scored on an assist by Lukas Kaspar at the 12:24 mark of the second period. The Barons earned the win as Steve Bernier scored his sixth game-winning goal with only 16-seconds remaining in regulation. Patrick Rissmiller and Garrett Stafford assisted on the goal.
1/15/06 Cleveland 6, Chicago 3 - Matt Carkner and Lukas Kaspar each scored a pair of goals leading the Barons to a 6-3 win at Chicago on Sunday. The Barons trailed 1-0 after the first twenty minutes. Chicago's Stephen Baby scored the game's first goal with a five-on-four advantage at the 18:53 mark of the period. Kaspar scored twice for the Barons, who earned a 2-2 tie after two periods of play. Carkner scored twice in the final frame to lead the Barons to their second consecutive road win. Chicago's Pat Dwyer trimmed the lead with a goal for the Wolves, but Mike Iggulden would score the insurance goal for the Barons at the 15:55 mark. Steve Bernier put the game away with a power play goal with less than two minutes to go in regulation.

1/17/06 Cleveland @ Milwaukee - Bradley Center
The Barons take on the Milwaukee Admirals in the fifth of eight meetings this season. The series currently stands tied at 2 wins apiece. Milwaukee's Scottie Upshall has six points (2-4-6) in two games against the Barons this season. Milwaukee (25-11-3-1) is led in scoring by Darren Haydar with 41 points (17-24-41) in 40 games. Cleveland (20-24-1-1) is led in scoring by Steve Bernier and Patrick Rissmiller. Bernier has 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points in 38 games and Rissmiller has 10 goals and 25 assists for 35 points in 46 games. Milwaukee defeated Cleveland, 6-4, on January 13th. Game time is 8:00 pm ET.
1/20/06 Cleveland @ Syracuse - War Memorial at Oncenter
Cleveland faces off against the Syracuse Crunch in the third of six match-ups this season. Cleveland is currently 1-1-0-0 against Syracuse this season and 13-18-2-1 lifetime against the Crunch. Mark Hartigan leads the way for the Crunch in scoring with 41 points (16-25-41) in 28 games played. Syracuse currently sits in third place in the North Division with a record of 23-13-2-1. Cleveland (20-24-1-1) is tied for fifth place and just three points behind the fourth-place Toronto Marlies. Game time is 7:30pm ET.
1/21/06 Cleveland @ Syracuse - War Memorial at Oncenter
Cleveland fell to Syracuse 4-3 on November 17th in Cleveland, the last time the teams met. Barons Lukas Kaspar and Patrick Rissmiller each have one goal and two assists for three points against the Crunch this season. Syracuse defenseman Jeff MacMillan has two assists in two games against the Barons this season. Game time is 7:30pm ET.
Barons Player of the Week
The Cleveland Barons Player of the Week is defenseman Matt Carkner. In addition to several key defensive plays, Carkner earned three goals and two assists for five points in four games this week, including the game-winning goal in the Barons 6-3 victory over Chicago. He ended the week +2 with 19 shots. On the season, the 6-foot-4, 230-pound defenseman has a career-best 17 points (7-10-17) and is +2 in 38 games.
Home Cooking
The Barons are currently on a five game home winning streak, which matches the franchise record they set in mid-November. The Barons will return to home ice on January 25th.
How the West Was Won
The Barons game against Milwaukee on Tuesday will mark the fifth consecutive game against the West Division for the Barons, who have played seven of their past eight games in the West Division. The Barons will return to North Division play over the weekend as they take on the Syracuse Crunch. They will then play three more games in the West Division leading up to the All-Star break.
All-Star Appearance
Barons left wing Patrick Rissmiller has been named to the PlanetUSA All-Star Team for the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic, taking place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg Jan. 31-Feb 1. This marks Rissmiller's first all-star appearance and he is the ninth Barons player to be selected for the All-Star game.
Absolutely Risserable
Barons left wing Patrick Rissmiller is currently tied for team lead in scoring with 35 points (10-25-35). The Barons All-Time Assists leader, Rissmiller's 25 assists currently lead the team. He is quickly approaching another Barons milestone as he is only two points behind Miroslav Zalesak as the Barons All-Time Points leader. Zalesak earned 166 points in his Barons career. Rissmiller currently has 164.
Don't Get Bernier-ed
Barons right wing Steve Bernier scored his team-leading sixth game-winning goal in the Barons victory over the Iowa Stars on Saturday. Six game winning goals in a season sets a new franchise record for most game winning goals during the regular season and leads the AHL. Bernier is currently tied for tops on the team in scoring with 35 points (17-18-35) in 38 games. He also ranks fifth among AHL rookie scoring leaders and his 17 goals are tops on the team and fifth among AHL rookies.
Rockin' the Kaspar
Barons left wing Lukas Kaspar has points (3-2-5) in his past three games. One of those goals is a short-handed tally, which the 6-2, 200-pound Kaspar netted against Chicago on Sunday. The goal marked his second short-handed goal of the year, which ties him for sixth among AHL scoring leaders and second among AHL rookies.
Staff Report
Defenseman Garrett Stafford has recorded 10 points (3-7-10) in his last ten games. Stafford currently leads Barons defenseman in scoring and ranks 10th among AHL defenseman scoring leaders. He also ranks 14th among AHL defenseman in assists and first among league defenseman in short-handed goals (2).

Barons center Josh Hennessy has recorded 5 points (2-3-5) in his past five games. Hennessy is currently third on the team in scoring (12-19-31) and second in assists. He also stands tied for 11th among AHL rookie scoring leaders and 8th among league rookie assist leaders.
