Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.-The Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League and affiliate of the National Hockey League's Chicago Blackhawks, announced in conjunction with Maverick Media on Friday that the team's new flagship radio station will be 100.5 NTA FM.
The change to 100.5 NTA FM starts on Friday night when the IceHogs travel to Peoria to take on the Rivermen. The broadcast begins at 6:35 p.m. with the U.S. Cellular Pregame Show. The remaining November IceHogs games will continue to be played live on 1330 AM WNTA, the IceHogs previous flagship radio station.
"Our relationship and programming with the Rockford IceHogs is central to the success of 100.5 NTA FM," said J Chapman, president of Maverick Media. "The partnership and relationship that we have brings new people to our radio station and gives us incredibly great programming with every game."
"We are excited to offer this great service to our fans and to expand our geographical footprint throughout the region," said Gordon Kaye, Executive Director of RAVE. "The IceHogs are not just Rockford's team as our loyal fan base extends throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin."
The 2011-12 season marks the seventh season in which Maverick Media has housed the IceHogs flagship radio station. IceHogs games can also be heard on-line through wnta.com. Rockford's new flagship radio home will feature a signal strength that reaches as far south as Dekalb, east as Elgin, north as Janesville and west as Freeport.
"The IceHogs are honored to have the new 100.5 NTA FM serve as the team's flagship radio station and to have IceHogs hockey featured as one of the first programs to air on the station," said IceHogs VP of Communications Mike Peck. "We have had a very strong, longstanding relationship with Maverick Media and we are proud to continue that on the FM dial."
Next Home Game: Saturday, Nov. 12 vs. Peoria: The IceHogs host Peoria for the second time in 2011-12 for another Illinois Lottery Cup tilt. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. It's also Heritage Night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Before the IceHogs take on the Rivermen, there will be an Alumni game featuring former IceHogs skaters against former Blackhawks. The Alumni game will begin at 4 p.m. Special throwback jerseys will be worn by the alumni and current IceHogs and auctioned off after the game.
