
Griffins Defeat Bulldogs 8-0

Hamilton, Ontario - The Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs by a score of 8-0 on Friday evening during a special Remembrance Day game. Jamie Johnson had two goals and one assist while Chris Conner and Doug Janik both tallied a goal and added two assists.
The Griffins opened the scoring at 1:32 of the first period on a goal by Jamie Johnson. Gustav Nyquist was positioned in the corner and centered a pass towards the slot where Johnson one-timed a low shot under Hamilton starting goaltender Nathan Lawson and in the net. Grand Rapids extended their lead at 2:40 of the opening frame on a tally by Louis-Marc Aubry. Doug Janik was stationed at the left point and feathered a pass into the slot where Aubry picked up the pass and deked around Lawson to put the puck in the net.
The Griffins scored their third goal on the power play at 6:04 of the second stanza on another marker by Johnson. Chris Conner was stationed at the right point and threw a pass to the Nyquist at the left circle. Nyquist then slid a quick pass to Johnson who was at the top of the crease and tipped the pass behind Lawson. Grand Rapids added another goal at 9:49 of the middle frame on a goal by Conner. Logan Pyett slapped a shot from the blue line which Lawson initially stopped. The rebound came out to the slot where Conner shoveled the rebound into the open net. The Griffins scored their fifth goal of the game on a goal by Tomas Tatar at 16:24 of the second period. Francis Pare flew down the left wing and flung a pass to Tatar in the slot who wired it over Lawson. Grand Rapids scored their sixth tally of the game on a marker by Pare at 19:01 of the second frame on the power play. Brian Lashoff whipped a shot from the blue line and the rebound came out to the left side of the crease where Pare buried the rebound. The Griffins extended the lead to seven at 19:29 of the second stanza on a power play goal by Janik. Nyquist wristed a shot from the top of the right circle which flew wide. The puck then bounced out in front of the net to Janik who flipped the puck over the shoulder of Lawson.
Grand Rapids added their final tally at 3:10 of the third period on a goal by Landon Ferraro. Janik took a wrist shot from the high slot which Robert Mayer stopped, and the rebound squirted loose to Ferraro who roofed the puck top shelf.
