Hirschfeld Dominant as Snappers Take Care of Rattlers

Five straight strikeouts from Steven Hirschfeld helped the Snappers defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, 7-2 Saturday night. The right-hander from Utah pitched seven strong innings, allowing just four hits and one run. Steven struck out eight Rattlers, including five in a row at one point, en route to his sixth win of the year.

Wisconsin got on the board first in the top of the first inning off the bat of Ron Garth. Garth cracked an RBI-single up the middle to take an early 1-0 lead after one half inning.

Beloit tied the game up in the bottom of the third inning with a run off Wisconsin starter Brett Lorin. Beloit got their run off the bat of Ben Revere, who smacked an RBI-single of his own up the middle, scoring Andrew Schmiesing from second base.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the sixth where the Snaps would take charge. Beloit got three runs off three hits to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

An RBI-single from Jeanfred Brito, a bases loaded hit by pitch from Allan de San Miguel and a bases loaded RBI-walk from Andrew Schmiesing put the Snappers up 4-1 after six innings.

The Snappers would pile three more runs on over the next two innings to take a 7-1 lead into the ninth.

Beloit then allowed a run in the top of the ninth to make it 7-2, but they held on to close the door on the Timber Rattlers and win by the same score.

Ben Revere and Jeanfred Brito each has two hits for the Snaps who improved to 17-11 in the second half.
