Tough season for catchers: Silversmith to Arkansas

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce today that catcher Alex Silversmith has been assigned to the Arkansas Travelers of the Texas League.
Silversmith will take the roster spot of former Kernel Anel De Los Santos, who was placed on the DL at Arkansas. Silversmith appeared in three games for the Kernels.
No replacement has been announced for the open roster spot. With today's transaction, the Kernels roster stands at 24 active players with five players currently on the disabled list.
The Kernels continue a six game home stand tonight against South Bend at 7 pm. Three lucky fans will win a car on Pat McGrath Chevyland Used Car Night and after the game there will be a spectacular fireworks show, presented by the Kernels and KWWL TV.
