Hershey falls to Philadelphia 6-2

The Phantoms struck first blood mid-way through the first period with a goal from Jim Campbell to put the Phantoms ahead 1-0. Two minutes later they scored again on a fluke goal from Randy Jones. The Jones goal deflected off a BEARS defender and trickled past a sprawling Frederic Cassivi to make the score 2-0. HERSHEY would not go down without a fight in the 1st period getting a late period goal from likely source, Kris Beech. Jakub Klepis and Lawrence Nycholat

assisted the Beech goal to end the period.

Boyd Gordon evened the score at the 10:33 mark of the second period giving the GIANT Center fans some life with a hard working goal. The BEARS and Phantoms would not be tied for long, less than 5 minutes later Matt Ellison whistled a shot past Cassivi to make it 3-2. The second period would end with fireworks; tough guys Dean Arsene and Ben Eager hooking up, the duo would meet again later in the third.

The Phantoms put the game out of reach in the third getting goals from Riley Cote, Alexandre Picard and Stefan Ruzicka. The period was filled with 70 penalty minutes and 4 fighting majors. The Phantoms left Chocolatetown on top 6-2, ending the BEARS 6-0-1-2 streak against the rivals.

Notables: Tomas Fleischmann ended his point and goal streak at 7 and 5 respectively. The game drew a total of 9,050 fans. The BEARS ended the night 1-5 on the power play. Lawrence Nycholat extended his point streak to 7 games. HERSHEY out shot Philadelphia 33-21.

The BEARS return to the ice Friday when they take on the Philadelphia Phantoms at the Wachovia Spectrum. The M&C Foreign Car Parts pre-game show will begin at 6:45 p.m. on the BEARS Radio Network, the game will follow at 7:05.
