Omaha, NE - One night after picking up an overtime win, the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights worked overtime again, this time dropping a 2-1 shootout decision to the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday night at the Civic Auditorium. The Knights earned a point but with Iowa winning in Cleveland, the Knights' lead for the last playoff spot in the West Division shrunk to two points.

Milwaukee earned the lead late in the first period. Just as their powerplay expired, Greg Classen cut in off the right wing and slipped a shot between Brent Krahn and the near post.

The 1-0 lead stood up until the beginning of the third period. The Knights had powerplay time left over from the second period, and it took just 13 seconds into the third period before Justin Taylor beat Pekka Rinne. Rinne swept the puck out of the net just after it had crossed the goal line and after conferring with the goal judge, referee Dean Morton let the goal stand.

The Knights appeared to be wearing down the Admirals, outshooting them 22-3 over the last two periods, but they could not beat Rinne again until the shootout. Both Taylor and Brantt Myhres scored to make it 2-2 after four rounds. But in the fifth round, Brandon Segal scored and then Tim Hambly was turned away by Rinne giving the Admirals the 2-1 win.

Krahn was seldom tested, making just 16 saves but picked up the shootout loss.

The Knights are now 34-26-2-10. They visit the Chicago Wolves on Wednesday, April 5th before returning home to host Iowa on Friday and Peoria on Saturday in their last two regular season home games.

Tickets for all home games are on sale at the Civic Auditorium box office, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Sunday from noon through game time and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets may be purchased by calling 422-1212 or at Ticketmaster.com.
