Cleveland Barons News Release

CLEVELAND, OH -- Loui Eriksson broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third period to lead Iowa to a 3-1 lead, their fifth consecutive win. Shane Joseph scored the Barons only goal of the night.

The two teams skated through a scoreless first period without many scoring chances produced by either club. Nolan Schaefer's ten saves provided the only highlight of the opening frame. Iowa's Dan Ellis made two saves as the Barons were out-shot 10-2.

The teams exchanged goals in the second remaining tied through the first forty minutes of play. Shane Joseph scored the game's opening goal with a power play strike from Tim Conboy and Chris Heid. The goal by Joseph, his 11th of the year, was the fourth time in the last five games the Barons scored the opening goal of the contest. Iowa answered with an even strength goal from Nicklas Grossman, his first as a professional, to tie the game at 1-1 with 2:07 remaining in the period. Both teams managed nine shots on net in the middle frame.

The Stars earned two more points toward their playoff push with the only two goals of the third period for a 3-1 win. Loui Eriksson gave Iowa their first lead of the night with a breakaway goal at the 12:33 mark, his 24th of the season. Mario Scalzo assisted on the game-winner. Toby Petersen then added some insurance for the Stars with an empty net tally with two-seconds remaining in regulation.

The Barons second of five consecutive home games will be played tomorrow night between the Stars and Barons at 5pm. The first 3,000 fans will receive a free team poster and there's a post-game autograph session with the players. Tickets for the game are available for the game at the Quicken Loans Arena.
