Milroy Scores OT Winner on Penalty Shot

Hamilton, ON - Duncan Milroy scored on a penalty shot in overtime to snap Hamilton's six-game losing streak as they defeated the Manchester Monarchs 2-1 at Copps Coliseum on Saturday night.

The Monarchs opened the scoring at 18:44 of the first period while on the power play when Brad Fast's shot from the point beat Hamilton netminder Yann Danis.

Hamilton tied the game at 12:42 of the second period while on a power play. Corey Locke passed the puck from behind the net to J.F. Jacques who one-timed it past Manchester goaltender Adam Hauser.

The 'Dogs outshot Manchester 11-8 in a scoreless third period.

At the 2:32 mark of the overtime period, Milroy was hooked by Marty Wilford and awarded a penalty shot. On the attempt, Milroy skated down the ice and snapped the puck behind Hauser.

Danis made 28 saves to earn the win and was named the game's first star. Hauser stopped 29 shots and suffered the loss.

Hamilton was 1 for 6 on the power play while Manchester went 1 for 9.

The Bulldogs next game will take place on Friday, April 7th when they travel to Syracuse to take on the Crunch. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Hamilton's next home game will take place on Sunday, April 9th when they host the Manitoba Moose.
