BINGHAMTON, NY - Denis Hamel scored his 50th goal of the season on Saturday night, but it was all the scoring Binghamton would receive in a 3-1 loss to the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Hamel became the first Binghamton American Hockey League player to register 50 goals since Don Biggs had 54 for the Binghamton Rangers during the 1992-93 season. The Senators captain is also closing in on another milestone as his next game will be the 500th of his AHL career.

Forward Scott Bertoli got the Norfolk Admirals on the board in the opening period with his first career AHL goal.

But Hamel responded less than five minutes later with his 50th of the season. Cory Pecker and Steve Martins picked up helpers on the goal. The goal extended Hamel's scoring streak to six games (six goals, two assists).

Norfolk took control of the game with two goals in the second period. Winger Quintin Laing earned the game-winning goal at 3:17 of the second and Matt Keith's 24th of the season concluded the night's scoring.

The loss snapped a six-game home winning streak for the Senators. It was also their first loss at home against an East Division opponent since a 2-6 defeat to Norfolk on Jan. 21.

Binghamton was scoreless in three power plays while Norfolk scored once in four attempts. The Senators outshot the Admirals 35 to 33 in the game.

Kelly Guard made 30 saves on 33 shots for Binghamton while Adam Munro stopped all but one of Binghamton's 35 shots.
