Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, Calif. - Heath Hembree tied the Fresno Grizzlies franchise record for saves in a season as the Grizzlies beat the Round Rock Express 2-1 on Thursday in front of 13,394 fans at Chukchansi Park. The win was the third straight victory for Fresno.

Hembree tossed a perfect ninth inning to notch his 24th save of the year, tying Jeff Darwin and Manny Aybar for the franchise's saves record. It was Hembree's second save in as many days as well as his 11th straight converted save opportunity.

The Grizzlies provided Hembree with a game to close when Ehire Adrianza hit a two-run double right on the left field line to make it 2-1 Fresno. The double was the only extra-base hit of Fresno's five hits during the game.

Grizzlies starting pitcher Justin Fitzgerald earned his second win in his last three starts after holding the Express to one run over seven innings. Fitzgerald's lone run surrendered was on Leury Garcia's RBI single in the fifth. The right-hander scattered five hits and two walks while striking out five.

Dan Runzler also contributed a scoreless inning of relief for Fresno when he allowed one walk and no hits in the eighth inning.

Round Rock starting pitcher Ryan Feierabend suffered the loss despite allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over seven innings.

The last time the Grizzlies won three games in a row was mid-May. Fresno has won five of its last six games. They have also beaten the Express in seven consecutive contests, dating back to the Grizzlies' sweep of the Express in 2012.

The Grizzlies go for the sweep of Round Rock again on Friday at Chukchansi Park in a 7:05 pm game. Mitch Lively will start for Fresno and oppose Round Rock's Josh Lindblom.
