Round Rock Express News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - After taking a one-run lead in the top of the fifth, the Round Rock Express (62-51) gave two scores back in the bottom half of the inning in its third straight loss to the Fresno Grizzlies (52-60) 2-1 Thursday night.

Express southpaw Ryan Feierabend was solid, allowing just two runs over 7.0 innings of work in his fifth straight quality start, but was outdueled by Fresno starter Justin Fitzgerald.

After managing just one hit through the first four innings, the Express touched up Fitzgerald for a run in the top of the fifth. With two outs and Jared Hoying on first after a single, the left fielder put the Express offense in motion by swiping his fourth base of the season and putting himself into scoring position. A wild pitch moved Hoying to third before shortstop Leury Garcia singled in the game's first run, giving the E-Train a 1-0 advantage.

The lead would be short-lived as the Grizzlies rallied in the bottom of the inning. Feierabend had also allowed just one hit through the first four innings, but Fresno broke through in the fifth. After a leadoff walk and single put runners on first and second, left fielder Kensuke Tanaka moved them into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Shortstop Ehire Adrianza cashed in on the scoring opportunity by following with a two-run double to put the Grizzlies on top 2-1.

Feierabend went on to hold Fresno hitless over his final 2.0 innings of action before being lifted in favor of the bullpen to start the eighth. Side-winder Ben Rowen entered the game in relief and worked 1.0 scoreless inning, allowing two hits, but pitching his way out of a two-on, two-out jam.

Round Rock put three men on base from the sixth inning on, but none were able to move into scoring position as the offense was held quiet in the latter half of the game.

Feierabend dropped to 5-4 despite his third straight start of 7.0 innings or more, while Fitzgerald (2-3) picked up the win.

The Express and Grizzlies conclude a four-game set at Chukchansi Park Friday night at 9:05 p.m. Right-hander Josh Lindblom (8-1, 2.27 ERA) will take the mound for Round Rock while Fresno counters with Mitch Lively (4-4, 5.68 ERA).
