Reno Aces News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- The Aces posted a four-run eighth inning to fuel a late comeback attempt, but ultimately fell 7-6 to the Oklahoma City RedHawks in the series finale Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The loss sealed the fourth sweep suffered by the Aces this season. Each of the last three games were decided by just one run.

Four of the first five Reno batters successfully reached base in the eighth, fueling a big inning that brought the Aces within one. RedHawks reliever Alex Sogard struggled against the Aces offense, allowing four runs on four hits through 0.1 innings.

After two quick outs in the ninth, Tyler Bortnick and Tony Campana each battled to reach base, on a single and a fielding error, respectively, before Chris Owings struck out swinging to end the threat.

Reno combined for 11 hits on the night, including a multi-hit performance by four Reno batters. Ed Easley and Bortnick, the eight and nine hole batters, combined to go 5-for-8 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Aces starter Garrett Mock was charged with four runs on nine hits through 4.0 innings, snapping his three-game winning streak across his last three starts.

The Aces now travel to New Orleans for a four-game series against the Zephyrs. RHP Charles Brewer (4-9, 5.68 ERA) gets the start for Reno, while the Zephyrs will counter with RHP Doug Mathis (5-8, 3.85 ERA). First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.

Reno returns home on Thursday, Aug. 8, for an eight-game homestand. Tickets are available for all remaining Aces home games at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
