Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat wrap up their third regular season this afternoon with the annual 'Fan Appreciation Game' and their fourth game this season against the Toronto Marlies (Toronto Maple Leafs) at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. The Heat have clinched a home ice playoff spot and will finish as the four seed in the Western Conference, though they don't yet know who they will face in the second season. The Marlies are trying to chase down the Oklahoma City Barons for top spot in the Conference.

The Heat have home ice in the best-of-five first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs, but their first round opponent remains a mystery with many teams in the Conference still vying for a playoff spot, possible opponents include, the San Antonio Rampage, the Milwaukee Admirals, the Charlotte Checkers and the Rochester Americans. The top seeded teams each get to select to host either the first two games of the series, or the final three contests - should the series go the distance.

This afternoon's game will feature over 5,000 giveaways including a SICK Civic (courtesy the Honda Way and the Abbotsford News), all players' game-worn jerseys, cowbells, hundreds of gift cards, food and beverage vouchers, Heat merchandise, and thousands of rally towels and thunder sticks. There's also a pre-game pancake breakfast starting at 11:30AM outside of the box office, and immediately following the game the club's year-end award presentation will commence, followed by the annual 'Cuts for the Cure' that sees players and fans shave their heads to raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation.

Today's broadcast of the Heat's final regular season game can be heard on Country 107.1 with the pre-game show beginning thirty minutes prior to puck drop. Today's game starts at 1:00PM from the AESC. Broadcasts are also available on Country 107.1's website, theAHL.com, and on the Rogers Radio App for your wireless device.
