Heat Defeat Marlies To Finish Season On High Note

Abbotsford, BC - Abbotsford closed out their 2011-12 AHL regular season by defeating the Toronto Marlies 5-4 in overtime on Sunday afternoon at the AESC. The Heat finished the campaign by winning nine of their final ten contests.

The home side's first and second period goals were scored by two newcomers to the team as Max Reinhart tallied twice in his first career AHL game while David Eddy also notched the first marker of his pro hockey career. NickTuzzolino scored midway through the third frame to send the game to extra time and then potted the game winner just over a minute into the overtime session.

Leland Irving got the start in goal and made 18 saves for his 22nd win of the campaign.

The Heat now await the results of other games around the AHL today to determine who they will face in the first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.
