Haydar Named Player of the Week

The American Hockey League announced today that Milwaukee Admirals right wing Darren Haydar has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 2, 2005. In three games, Haydar registered three goals and five assists for eight points as Milwaukee kept pace in the West Division standings.

Haydar posted multi-point games in all three Admiral contests this past week. On Monday, the University of New Hampshire Alum notched a goal and an assist in a 4-3 Admiral loss to San Antonio. Haydar notched his first four-point (1g-3a) game of the season versus the Houston Aeros in Milwaukee's 4-1on Wednesday before picking up the game-winnning goal and adding an assist on Thursday versus Hamilton. In those three games, Haydar had a hand in eight of the the Admirals 11 goals.

Haydar, in his third season with the Ads, won the Dudley "Red" Garrett Award as the AHL's outstanding rookie in 2001-02 and topped the AHL's playoff scoring list last year with 29 points in 27 games as the Admirals caputered the 2004 Calder Cup Title. The Milton, ONT native has posted an impressive 158 points (61g-97a) in just 184 games in his professional career.

The Admirals ring in the new year with a weekend double-header at the Bradley Center this week. Milwaukee will take on Chicago on Friday night at 7 pm, before playing host to Houston in a 1:30 pm matinee on Saturday.
