Ken Daneyko to appear at January 15th Rats game

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats announced today that former New Jersey Devils defenseman Ken Daneyko will appear at the club's 7:00pm game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on January 15th at Pepsi Arena. He will be available for autographs during the first and second intermissions on the Pepsi Arena concourse.

Daneyko, one of five members of all three of New Jersey's Stanley Cup Championship teams, currently serves the organization as a member of the alumni association. He retired on July 11, 2003 following an 18-year National Hockey League career that included 1,283 regular season games, the most in franchise history and 37th in NHL history.

The Windsor, Ontario native led New Jersey in penalty minutes six times during his career and his 2,519 penalty minutes are the most in league history for a player with one team. He finished his playing career with 178 (36-142) points and a plus-78 rating and skated in a team-record 175 postseason matches with the Devils. Daneyko was awarded the 2000 Bill Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey as selected by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association.

The game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will also feature a special promotion in conjunction with Newschannel 13 WNYT. One lucky fan will win a trip to New York City, a $100 lunch voucher and tickets to see a live taping of the Conan O'Brien show at NBC Studios at Rockefeller Center. Fans can enter to win the contest prior to the game by visiting the River Rats executive offices or merchandise store at Pepsi Arena during normal business hours.

The Albany River Rats, in their 12th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
