(PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 3, 2005) - The Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League announced today that center Patrick Sharp has been named the Toyota Phantoms Player of the Month for December. Sharp will receive his award in a pregame presentation on Friday, Jan. 7, when the Phantoms host the Syracuse Crunch at the Wachovia Spectrum at 7:05 p.m.
"Patrick was a responsible hockey player who led the team offensively," said Phantoms head coach John Stevens. "He took a lead role as the number-one center."
Sharp averaged over a point per game in 11 games during the month as the Phantoms maintained their lead in the East Division. His six goals and six assists for 12 points led the team during December.
The highlight of the month for Sharp came during a game in Tampa, Fla. when Philadelphia played the Springfield Falcons at the St. Pete Times Forum. The Phantoms won the game, 4-3, as Sharp tied the team record for most assists in a game with four.
Currently in his third season with the Phantoms, Sharp leads the team in scoring with 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points and 19 penalty minutes in 30 games. His seven power play goals are also tops on the team.
In 44 career games with the Flyers during the last two seasons, Sharp has five goals and two assists for seven points and 51 penalty minutes.
