
Admirals defeat division-leading Philadelphia, split pair with Houston

NORFOLK, VA - On December 29th, Mikhail Yakubov scored two minutes into overtime to lift Norfolk to a 2-1 win over division-leading Philadelphia. Against Houston the next night, five different Admirals lit the lamp to give them a 5-2 victory. In the final game of 2004, the Aeros broke up a 1-1 tie with a pair of late tallies to down Norfolk 3-1.
Norfolk host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for a pair of matches this Friday and Saturday.
STANDINGS
Norfolk is in fourth place in the East with 40 points (18-15-1-3), trailing Philadelphia (22-7-2-3, 49 pts), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (18-8-4-3, 43 pts) and Binghamton (18-14-3-2, 41 pts). Hershey (17-17-1-0, 35 points) is fifth followed by Bridgeport (15-16-1-0, 31 pts) and Albany (9-17-4-4, 26 pts).

· The Admirals have outshot their opponents 358-221 over their last nine
games, posting at least 30 shots in each game and holding the opposition to
22 shots or fewer five times.
· Norfolk currently ranks fifth in the AHL in shots for (32.78) and second
in shots against (26.97).
· The Admirals have outshot the opposition 1,213-998 this season for a
difference of 215 shots. They have the largest shot total and the highest
shot differential in the league.
· Norfolk has just two power play goals in its last eight games (2-33,
