Auld rejoins Moose, McVicar reassigned

Today, the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced goaltender Alex Auld has re-joined the Moose after playing for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland. As a result, the Moose have re-assigned goaltender Robert McVicar to the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL.

Auld, 23, appeared in all four games for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup posting a record of 3-1-0 and a third place finish. This season with the Moose, the Cold Lake, AB native has appeared in 15 games, compiling a record of 9-4-1 with a goals against average of 2.49 and a save percentage of .915. In 113 career games with the Moose, Auld is 53-48-8 with a goals a career AHL goals against average of 2.74 and a career AHL save percentage of .907. In 38 NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks, Auld is 16-19-3 with a goals against average of 2.62 and a save percentage of .908. He was originally the second choice of the Florida Panthers, 40th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

McVicar, 22, made one appearance during his recent recall to Manitoba, stopping 42 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Cleveland Barons on Dec. 28/04. McVicar appeared in 10 games with the Moose last year in his first season as a pro. He collected four wins to go along with three losses and two ties, while compiling a goals against average of 2.67 and a save percentage of .905. In 11 games with the Columbia Inferno so far this season, the Brandon, MB native has a goals against average of 2.64 and a save percentage of .910 along with a 3-7-1 record. McVicar was originally drafted by the Canucks 151st overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
