Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs scored early, scored late, and extended their unbeaten-in-regulation streak to 10 games with a workman-like, 3-0 Atlantic Division win over the Springfield Falcons at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday night. A crowd of 7,792 watched as right wing Pavel Rosa, left wing Noah Clarke and center Michael Cammalleri scored for the Monarchs, providing more than enough firepower for goaltender Adam Hauser, who collected his team-leading sixth shutout with 22 saves.

With the win, the Monarchs (31-21-6-5, 73 points) strengthened their grip on second place in the division, 10 points behind the division-leading Hartford Wolf Pack (35-16-11-2, 83 points). They also moved another point up on the third place Worcester IceCats (28-22-11-3, 70 points), who trail the Monarchs by three points in the standings. The Monarchs are 6-0-2-2 in their last 10 contests.

Rosa extended his scoring streak to five games (4-4=8) and his goal streak to four games (four goals during the streak) by backhanding a shot past goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier 9:48 into the opening period. Defenseman Joe Rullier and left wing Chris Schmidt assisted on Rosa's team-leading 26th goal. With the assist, his 150th in the AHL, Schmidt extended his own scoring streak to four games (1-3=4).

After a scoreless middle period, the Monarchs took control of the game with Clarke's goal, scored with assistance from Rosa and center Steve Kelly 6:25 into the final period. Kelly started the play with his pass to Rosa in the slot. Rosa received the pass and then quickly dished to Clarke, who was lurking near the left post. Clarke buried Rosa's feed for his 23rd goal of the year.

Cammalleri's power play goal with just 1:28 remaining on the clock sealed the Monarchs 31st win. Forward Yanick Lehoux and right wing Greg Koehler assisted on Cammalleri's 10th this season.

Hauser (15-13-6) collected 10 of his saves in the middle period. He needed just four saves in the final frame to nail down the shutout. Pelletier (8-19-4) finished with 37 saves as the Monarchs reached double digits in shots in each of the three periods.

NOTES: The Monarchs revealed their millionth fan midway through the first period of Wednesday's game. Manchester's Mike Coons, a 41-year-old half season ticket holder with the Monarchs, received an impressive prize package that included a pair of Monarchs season tickets for the 2004-05 season, a team autographed stick and a $100 gift certificate for the Monarchs Pro Shop. The prize package also included a chance to meet his favorite Monarch after the game, a Zamboni ride during the first intermission and an interview with Dick Lutsk, a color commentator on the Monarchs Radio Network.

The Monarchs return to action when they host the Worcester IceCats at 7:35 p.m. on Friday, March 12. The Monarchs will also celebrate Mullet Night II, sponsored by TRIMZ Family Haircut Center, on the same night.
