Springfield Falcons News Release
Manchester, NH â The Springfield Falcons fell to the Manchester Monarchs, 3-0, before 7,792 at Verizon Wireless Arena on Wednesday evening. Manchester's Pavel Rosa posted a goal and an assist, while netminder Adam Hauser made 22 saves to collect his sixth shutout of the season. Forwards Noah Clarke and Michael Cammalleri also scored for the Monarchs. Falcons goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier stopped 37 of 40 shots in the game.
Rosa scored his 26th goal of the season to provide Manchester with a 1-0 lead 9:48 into the first period. The forward received a pass out of the right wing corner from former Falcon Chris Schmidt before flipping a backhand past Pelletier from the low slot.
Following a scoreless second period, the Monarchs doubled their lead when Clarke connected at 6:25 of the final frame. On the play, Rosa one-timed a pass from center Steve Kelly across the Falcons' crease where an open Clarke deposited the puck into the net.
Manchester capped scoring in the game when center Yannick Lehoux set up Cammalleri at the edge of the crease for a power-play goal with 1:28 remaining to play. Lehoux centered the puck to Cammalleri from behind the net.
Only three penalties were called in the game. The Falcons did not convert their only chance with the man advantage. The Monarchs scored once on two power-play opportunites.
With the defeat, the Falcons are now 3-3-0-0 versus the second-place Monarchs this season.
Brian Sullivan, who signed a professional tryout agreement with the Falcons on Wednesday, made his professional debut in the game. Sullivan is the brother of former Phoenix Coyotes' player and current Boston Bruins head coach Mike Sullivan.
The Falcons will return to the Springfield Civic Center to host home games on Friday and Saturday. The first 3,000 fans in attendance to the club's contest versus the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday night will receive a commemorative poster featuring members of the Falcons' 10th Anniversary Team.
