
Jaspers and Spiller recalled by Coyotes

Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that center Jason Jaspers and defenseman Matthew Spiller have been recalled by the Phoenix Coyotes, their National Hockey League affiliate. The Falcons also announced the signing of defenseman Brian Sullivan to a professional tryout agreement today. Sullivan will join the Falcons in time for the clubs' contest versus the Manchester Monarchs in New Hampshire tonight.
Jaspers, 22, ranks fourth on the Falcons in scoring this season with 26 points (11g, 15a) and has collected 48 penalty minutes (PIM) in 45 games. The native of Thunder Bay, Ontario is in his third professional season. Jaspers scored 25 goals to lead the Falcons and rank sixth among AHL rookies in 2001-02. Jaspers was the Coyotes' fourth choice (3rd round, 71st overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Spiller, 21, has registered three points (1g, 2a) and 21 PIM in 17 games with Springfield this season. The 6'5", 233-pound rookie scored his first professional goal in a 3-2 Falcons' win over Binghamton on January 3rd. He was most recently re-assigned to Springfield by the Coyotes on February 18th. Spiller has accumulated 46 PIM and has not figured in scoring in 39 games with Phoenix this season. The Daysland, Alberta native was the Coyotes' second selection (2nd round, 31st overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Sullivan, 23, led UMass-Boston in scoring with 32 points (8g, 24a) in 26 games this season, which recently concluded for the Beacons. The Marshfield, Massachusetts native also registered 12 points (2g, 10a) in 93 games for Northeastern University from 1999 to 2003. The 6'3", 205-pound Sullivan was the Dallas Stars' ninth choice (8th round, 243rd overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Following tonight's game at Manchester, the Falcons will return to the Springfield Civic Center to host home games on Friday and Saturday. The first 3,000 fans in attendance to the club's contest versus the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday night will receive a commemorative poster featuring members of the Falcons' 10th Anniversary Team. On Saturday evening, the Falcons will host Team Jennifer Night in which the players will wear special jerseys that will later be auctioned off through www.falconsahl.com to benefit The Jennifer Ferraro Foundation. Numerous items of autographed hockey memorabilia will also be raffled off at Saturday's game for the benefit of the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation.
