Hartford, CT - The Hartford Yard Goats (10-9) scored three runs in the sixth inning, and beat the Portland Sea Dogs (6-12), 3-0 in six innings on Wednesday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Hartford scored their runs before the game was put in a rain delay and later called.

Mike Shawaryn (1-2) took the tough-luck loss for Portland. Shawaryn retired the first 12 batters before a single from Sam Hilliard in the fifth inning.

Jesus Tinoco (3-1) gets credited with a complete-game shutout, yielding three hits, one walk and fanning four over six innings.

Shawaryn did not record an out in the sixth. Ryan Metzler led off with a single and advanced to third base on a bunt-single by Omar Carrizales. Wes Rogers knocked in the first run with a single. Garrett Hampson reached on a sacrifice-bunt-error by Shawaryn, plating the second run. The third run scored on a fielding error by 1B Josh Ockimey.

Portland dropped the final five games of the trip, and Hartford went 6-0 on their homestand. The Yard Goats have won five of seven from Portland this year.

The Sea Dogs are off on Thursday and return to action on Friday night against the Reading Fightin Phils (Phillies affiliate), opening up a six-game homestand at Hadlock Field. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.seadogs.com or calling 207-879-9500.
