Hamilton Slips by Texas with a 3-2 OT Win

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (17-11-2-1, 37 points) were defeated by the Hamilton Bulldogs (18-8-1-3, 40 points) 3-2 on Saturday night in front of 6,518 fans at Cedar Park Center. Hamilton center Dustin Boyd scored twice, including the overtime game-winning goal 1:07 into the extra session. Bulldogs goalie Curtis Sanford (11-5-0) stopped 31 of 33 shots in the victory. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (10-5-1) stopped 30 of 33 shots in the loss. Stars centers Travis Morin and Aaron Gagnon both scored on the night. The Stars host the Oklahoma City Barons at 7:30 PM at Cedar Park Center on Monday night.

Following a scoreless first period, the Stars opened the scoring 2:38 into the second with a goal by center Travis Morin who tapped in a rebound marking his 13th goal of the season. Defenseman Philip Larsen and left wing Fabian Brunnstrom both added assists for Texas, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead.

The Stars extended their lead at 12:41 of the third period, as center Aaron Gagnon notched Texas' second goal of the night. Forwards Cody Chupp and Francis Wathier set up the goal to expand the Stars lead to 2-0. Less than a minute later, Hamilton right wing J.T. Wyman slipped a shot past Bachman to mark the Bulldog's first goal of the night. Center Ben Maxwell provided the assist to cut the score to 2-1.With 2:52 remaining in the third, Hamilton center Dustin Boyd scored a power-play goal tying the game

2-2. Boyd's second of the year was set up by center David Desharnais and defenseman Kyle Klubertanz.

Boyd notched his second goal of the night and the game-winning goal 1:07 into overtime with help from center Ben Maxwell and defenseman Brendon Nash for a 3-2 final.

The Stars will host Oklahoma City on Monday at 7:30 PM at Cedar Park Center. H-E-B Monday allows fans to bring a non-perishable H-E-B food item to the Cedar Park Center box office to receive a $5.00 discount. Monday will also be a 3-2-1 night, where fans may purchase $3.00 domestic 12 oz drafts, $2.00 sodas and $1.00 hot dogs. After the holiday break, Texas will embark on a five game road trip with stops in Houston, Abbotsford and San Antonio.
