Moose rally past Aeros

WINNIPEG, Manitoba --- Cody Almond scored twice for the Houston Aeros but the Manitoba Moose rallied for four unanswered goals in a 5-3 win Friday night at the MTS Centre.

Brandon Buck also scored for the Aeros, who fell to 1-3-0-0 on their current five-game road trip.

Almond staked Houston to a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal 2:24 into the first period. Manitoba's Shawn Weller cut the Houston lead in half at 11:53 on the power play, but Almond answered with his second of the night, on the man advantage, to put Houston up 2-1 at 14:41.

Buck gave the Aeros a 3-1 lead just 1:17 into the middle stanza with his second goal of the season. The Moose battled back, pulling within a goal on Guillame Desbien's tally at 15:46 and tying it at 3-3 on Mark Flood's power play goal with 17 seconds left in the second.

The Moose pulled ahead in third on Joel Perrault's power play goal at 8:50 and added an empty-net insurance goal by Kevin Connauton with 23 seconds left in regulation.

The Aeros and Manitoba square off on Saturday in Winnipeg with a 7:30 p.m. CST start time.

Houston returns home Dec. 21, against Hamilton at 7:05 p.m. Fans who bring a toy to help support the Bay Star Ambulance/MD Anderson Cancer Center Toy Drive will receive two tickets to the Aeros game on New Year's Day.
