Gwinnett Stripers News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - In an announcement made today by the International League, Gwinnett Braves' left-handed starter Manny Banuelos has been selected to participate in the 28th Annual First National Bank Triple-A All-Star Game, presented by Gildan. The game will take place on Wednesday, July 15 at Werner Park, the home of the Omaha Storm Chasers, in Omaha, NE.

Banuelos, 24, is slated to represent the International League as it faces off against the Pacific Coast League. He was one of 13 players elected by the combined vote of IL field managers and general managers, members of the media and online fan voting. It is the first Triple-A All-Star selection for Banuelos and his first All-Star selection of any kind since 2011 when he was an Eastern League Midseason All-Star for Double-A Trenton in the New York Yankees' organization.

In his first season with Gwinnett, Banuelos has posted a team-leading six wins while going 6-2 and has the second-lowest ERA among qualified IL pitchers at 2.29. He also ranks among IL leaders in shutouts (T-1st, 1), complete games (T-3rd, 1), lowest opponent batting average (5th, .215), starts (T-5th, 15), strikeouts (T-6th, 69), wins (T-10th, 6) and WHIP (11th, 1.22).

Ranked Atlanta's No. 11 prospect by MLB.com, Banuelos was acquired by the Braves in a three-player trade that sent pitchers David Carpenter and Chasen Shreve to the Yankees on January 1, 2015.

The 28th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast live from Werner Park on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network on July 15 beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

The Gwinnett Braves begin a three-game road series against the Charlotte Knights with a 7:05 p.m. game tonight at BB&T Ballpark. Right-hander Kanekoa Texeira (0-2, 4.20 ERA) will start for Gwinnett. The Knights will counter with right-hander Erik Johnson (7-5, 2.86 ERA). Tony Schiavone has the play-by-play call on 97.7 FM and WSBRadio.com beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The G-Braves return home to Coolray Field to face Charlotte at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, July 4. To purchase tickets, call the Coolray Field Ticket Office at 678-277-0340 or visit GwinnettBraves.com/tickets.
