
Bats' Falu Named IL All-Star

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Irving Falu has been selected as a 2015 International League All-Star, the league announced Thursday. The Bats' second baseman enters play Thursday fifth among all qualifying batters in the IL with his .316 average and was the lone All-Star selected from Louisville. Falu and the International League All-Stars will take on the Pacific Coast League All-Stars in the 28th Annual Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 15 at Werner Park in Omaha, Neb.
Along with leading the Bats in batting, Falu, 32, is also tops in stolen bases (11), on-base percentage (.380), OPS (.793) and he is tied for first in triples (3). He is also second in runs (37), RBI (31), total bases (101) and is tied for second in doubles (12). He spent the bulk of 2014 with the Nashville Sounds, then the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, where he hit .291 in 76 games. He appeared in 11 games for the Brewers before he was claimed off waivers by San Diego on June 26, 2014. He appeared in 11 games with the Padres before he returned to the Brewers in a waiver claim on July 17, 2014 and finished his season with Nashville.
Falu graduated from Angel P. Millan High School in Puerto Rico and Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. He is the cousin of former Major League infielder Luis Alicea, who played for the Louisville Redbirds in parts of each season from 1987 through 1992.
The First National Bank 2015 Triple-A All-Star Game will be broadcast live from Omaha on MLB Network, the American Forces Network, MiLB.TV and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network beginning at 7 p.m. CST on Wednesday, July 15.
The Bats have averaged 8,912 fans per game at Louisville Slugger Field since its opening in 2000 and have totaled over 9.4 million fans through 15 seasons.
