Utah Grizzlies News Release

San Diego, California - The San Diego Gulls scored two goals in each period defeating the Utah Grizzlies Saturday night in California 6-2. Five of the six San Diego goals came on the power-play. Jesse Bennefield recorded a hat trick for the home team in their victory.

Trailing 2-0 in the second, Jeff Miles scored his 13th goal of the year, cutting the deficit in half just 1:14 into the middle frame. The Grizzlies had two consecutive power-plays later in the period, including 15 seconds of a 5 on 3 situation but were unable to get the equalizing goal.

Trailing 6-1 in the third, Ed Hill scored a power-play goal for the Grizzlies at 9:02, just four seconds into a Nikita Korovkin minor.

Matt Craig extended his scoring streak to four games with two assists. The Grizzlies went 1 for 7 on the power-play, preventing themselves from going two straight games without a power-play goal for the first time this season.

Justin Eddy stopped 22 of 28 Gulls shots, dropping to 9-4-1 on the year.

Utah wraps up their weekend three-game road trip tomorrow night in Long Beach. Face-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time.
