Bombers fall to Chiefs, 5-3

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers dropped a 5-3 decision to the Johnstown Chiefs in game two of a four game series Sunday afternoon at the Nutter Center.

The Bombers would open the scoring for the game as JEFF SZWEZ notched his fifteenth goal of the season at the 8:03 mark of the first period. The power play goal was assisted by CHRISTOFF ROSENBERG and DOMINIC NOEL. Just :37 later, SCOTT CAMERON would score off an assist by MARCO CAPRARA to give the Bombers a two goal lead. Johnstown would fight back however, adding their first goal of the game at the 12:57 mark, as Paul Caponigri would find a hole in Mike Ayers, off assists from Steven Cygan and Doug Andress. At the end of the first period, Johnstown out shot Dayton 13-12.

The second period would be uneventful in terms of scoring, however shots on goal would favor the Bombers 17-6.

In the third period, Johnstown would score four goals, and Dayton only managed one. Dayton's lone goal in the third period was by DOMINIC NOEL, his sixth as a Bomber, off assists by JEREMY VAN HOOF and PAUL KELLY, at the 7:30 mark. Johnstown would score their fifth goal on an empty net, as goaltender MIKE AYERS left the ice for an extra skater with just over a minute to go. Final shots on goal totaled 44-25 in favor of the Bombers. With the loss, Dayton drops to 10-20-3, while Johnstown improves to 12-13-8, with the four game series notched up at 1-1.
